Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular and tested way to enhance areas of your face for a more flattering appearance. Whether it being your cheekbones or a mouth area, a dermal filler can totally change your appearance giving you a new look. As we get old, we tend to lose our firmness and fullness to our skin, so using dermal fillers is useful for areas of volume loss and to smooth out any wrinkles or folds.

Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring acid that naturally attracts and binds to water, giving a volumising effect to your skin for a firm and full feeling.

  • Restores tone and volume
  • Reduces deep lines and wrinkles
  • Smooths the contours of your face
  • See results immediately
  • Typically lasts 9 to 12 months

Treatment areas:

Nasolabial line filler

The nasolabial fold is the deep crease running from either side of the nose down towards the corners of the mouth. This crease becomes more noticeable as part of the natural ageing process. Fat is lost from the cheeks, reducing skin volume and making this fold appear deeper. Repeated smiling or having a “big smile” may result in permanent, deep creases in this area.

What can be done?

Deep nasolabial folds can be corrected through injections of dermal filler into the surrounding area, restoring the lost volume and softening the appearance of these creases. The goal of nasolabial fold injections is to even out the skin volume, leaving you with a smoother, refreshed-looking appearance.

Results are immediate and Nasolabial Line Filler will typically last 6-12 months.

Corner of the mouth filler (Marionette lines)

Marionette lines( Corner Of The Mouth) are long vertical wrinkles that traverse from the corners of the lips to the chin. The name is derived from Marionette puppets that have faces with long vertical creases. These creases could give a grim or sad look to the face. These lines occur with age, smoking and genetics and can progress to form jowls later on.

What can be done?

It is possible to lift these corners with dermal filler by adding volume and anchoring the corners higher up.

Results are immediate and Corner Of The Mouth Filler will typically last 10-12 months.

Smoker’s lines filler

Also known as vertical ‘lipstick lines’, are the result of many years of smoking, sun damage and natural aging. They can be static (present at rest) or active (present on contraction) and can appear above and/or below the lips in the distribution of the orbicularis oris muscle- a strap-like muscle around the mouth.

What can be done?

This area can be treated by a combination of both botox (to relax the muscle) and filler (to add volume that is lost) often with great, long-lasting results.

Results are immediate and the treatment will typically last 6-12 months.

Anti-wrinkle treatment (“botox”)

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as ‘Botox’ , short for Botulinum toxin. This is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles. It is the UK’s most popular cosmetic treatment for the removal of wrinkles.

By relaxing the facial muscles, wrinkles are made less visible; this results in a natural, rejuvenated look.

  • Relaxes the muscles
  • Slows signs of natural ageing
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Takes effect after a few days
  • Typically lasts aprox. 4 months

Treatment areas:

Forehead lines

We get horizontal forehead lines primarily from our forehead muscles contracting when we raise our eyebrows. This movement is often created by contraction of the frontalis muscle and in some people can create a tired or stressed appearance. As with frown lines, Anti-Wrinkle injections are the best treatment and often gives excellent results, especially when combined with the frown area creating a natural unopposed effect.

What can be done?

Depending on the dose used and the age treated, anti-wrinkle injections can be used to prevent lines developing/deepening or to soften existing lines.

Maximum results are usually seen between 10-14 days and will typically last 3 months.

Frown lines (Glabellar)

Frown lines are vertical lines between and above your eyebrow that are the result of frowning, excessive expressions, and aging skin. Similar to forehead lines, as we age these frown lines become more prominent often creating an angry, stressed or tired appearance.

What can be done?

These lines are caused by contraction of the glabellar muscles- namely the process, corrugators and depressor supercilli which work to bring the eyes ‘down and in’. Elimination of frown lines leads to a more rested, approachable and fresh appearance.

Maximum results are usually seen between 10-14 days and will typically last 3 months.

Crows feet lines

These lines and wrinkles are formed by contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle around the eyes, and occur on smiling, laughing or squinting. In some people they are present at rest and can deepen with time to extend into the cheek areas creating a ‘tired or stressed’ appearance.

What can be done?

The lines can be worsened by sunlight or smoking, and completely eradicated by using simple Anti-Wrinkle injections around the contours of the eyes.

Maximum results are usually seen between 10-14 days and will typically last 3 months.

Bunny lines

These lines are created by contraction of the ‘upside down horseshoe muscle’ called the nasalis. The lines created can be static (seen at rest) or active (seen on movements such as laughing or talking). They can progress towards the cheek and eye area and can result in a ‘stressed appearance’ for some.

What can be done?

These lines can be relaxed by injecting Anti-Wrinkle product into each side of the nose and are often combined with upper face Anti-Wrinkle treatments to the frown and crow’s feet areas.

Maximum results are usually seen between 10-14 days and will typically last 3 months.

Procedure

The treatment begins with a consultation and analysis with your therapist, to assess your skin type and your requirements.

Then, a numbing cream is applied to the target area if necessary.

The filler or anti-wrinkle treatment is carefully injected into your skin and then massaged for an even distribution.
